A restorative retreat on the edge of Dartmoor National Park at the Balabrook Retreat Centre

 

Balance, let go and reflect upon the cycles of nature in preparation for the winter months ahead.  This gentle, nurturing retreat will allow you to draw your attention inwards.  Reflect on the past year and the impermanence of life, with yoga postures and meditative practices that encourage deep introspection and acceptance.

Setting the scene

Autumn is a time for letting go, a time for withdrawal, reflection and gratitude. As the trees allow their leaves to fall gracefully to the ground when they are no longer needed, this deeply nourishing autumn retreat will allow you to gently release any issues that no longer serve you, and tap into the resources that will move you forward.
 
 

Balabrook boasts a beautiful yoga and meditation studio - a light and airy space featuring a wooden floor with underfloor heating. Two sets of doors open onto the delightful garden and bubbling brook.

Bala Brook is situated within the Dartmoor National Park and lies on the edge of beautiful open moorland. There are 35 acres of delightful gardens, wild flower-filled fields and mature woodland adjoining the tumbling waterfalls of the Bala Brook, which runs through the grounds of the retreat on its way to the river Avon.

A typical day

Typically, your day will start with an energising early morning yoga session, followed by meditation before breakfast. 

 

There will be optional activities before and after lunch; holistic therapies, coaching or 1-2-1 sessions are on offer at specially reduced retreat rates.  Throughout the day you will have opportunities to explore the surrounding national park, just sit back and unwind, read a book, or socialise with fellow retreat guests if you wish.

 

Before dinner, there will be a restorative yoga and meditation class, encouraging you to let go, relax and explore your inner world of peace and gratitude.

 

The evenings are free for quiet personal reflection and integration.

 

Wholesome food & healthy juices

 

Our dedicated in-house chef will prepare all your meals over the course of the weekend, offering a delicious selection of wholesome vegetarian and vegan food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus snacks and healthy juices. 


Tea, coffee and a selection of herbal teas are available throughout the day.


If you have any dietary requirements please let us know at the time of booking, so that we can do our best to accommodate your needs.


 
 

Delightful accommodation


Your accommodation for the retreat is based on twin or triple room, with both ensuite and shared bathroom facilities available. If you are travelling with friends, please let us know at the time of booking, so that you can stay together if this is your preference. Otherwise, you will be paired with a retreat participant of the same gender in a shared room. 


If you wish to have single occupancy, please let us know at the time of booking. Whilst this cannot always be guaranteed, we will do our best to accommodate your needs (single occupancy incurs an additional charge).


One single ensuite bedroom is wheelchair accessible.

Car/Taxi share -  4 weeks before the retreat we will create a Facebook event page where people can offer/share car or taxi journeys.
